SocialPro – Social Network, Chat & Creator Monetisation Platform (Next.js + MongoDB) — preview 1

SocialPro is a self-hostable social, chat and creator platform built by DEV3 Technologies on Next.js 15 (App Router + Server Actions) and MongoDB, with a Socket.io realtime sidecar and a background worker. Members post, follow, chat and call; creators earn through tips, pay-per-view and subscriptions; advertisers run campaigns; and staff moderate everything from one console.

Try it: the live demo is read-only and has one-click logins for a member, a verified creator, an advertiser, a Manager, an Admin and the Super Admin.

Feeds and the social graph

  • Four feeds – For You (ranked), Following, Whispers (anonymous) and AI Discover, with cursor pagination and push/pull fan-out.
  • Rich posts – text, carousels, video, audio, polls and link previews, with mentions, hashtags, location and alt text.
  • Audiences – public, followers, friends, close friends, custom lists and communities.
  • Engagement – six reactions, reposts, quotes, bookmarks with collections, and threaded comments with GIFs and pinning.
  • Graph – follows (with requests for private accounts), friends, blocks, mutes, restrictions and lists.
  • Communities with their own roles for posting, moderation, membership and settings.

Messaging in real time

  • Direct and group chats with typing, presence, read receipts, reactions, replies, threads, forwarding, editing, deleting and pinning.
  • Voice notes, media and files, disappearing messages, message requests and paid DMs.
  • Whisper DMs – a fresh anonymous handle per thread, safety scanning before delivery, accept/decline/block/report and a mutual reveal.
  • 1:1 WebRTC audio and video calls.
  • Without the sidecar the app falls back to polling; set REDIS_URL to scale the sidecar out.

AI personas

  • A pluggable provider: Anthropic Claude by default, OpenAI, or an offline mock that needs no key.
  • AI personas with tone sliders, schedules and active hours that post (from topics, RSS and trends), comment and auto-reply to DMs.
  • Mandatory AI badges and disclosures, and staff oversight of batches, held drafts, failures and cost, with pause, edit, purge and key rotation.

Creators and money

  • Double-entry ledger for coins, tips, pay-per-view unlocks and paid DMs and whispers.
  • Subscriptions (Basic, Pro, Creator, VIP) with entitlements.
  • Stripe Checkout, Billing webhooks and Connect Express payouts with hold periods, refunds and disputes; a full simulated mode runs when no Stripe keys are set.

Ads manager

  • Advertiser portal and campaign wizard with five placements: in-feed, rail banner, sponsored search, promoted profiles and sponsored DMs.
  • Targeting by location, age, gender, language, device, interests, hashtags and followers-of.
  • A second-price eCPM auction with smoothed CTR, pacing and frequency caps; signed impression and click tokens and a conversion pixel.
  • AI and safety pre-review, then Manager or Admin approval, and reports with demographics.

Trust, safety and administration

  • Sign-in: email verification; password, magic-link and Google sign-in; two-factor by authenticator app, email or SMS code with recovery codes; per-device sessions with risk scoring and new-device alerts; guest read-only browsing.
  • Dynamic RBAC + ABAC: 50 permission nodes such as content:delete:any, roles that inherit (Member → Manager → Admin → Super Admin) plus custom roles, and record-level checks for ownership, verified or plan status and device risk.
  • Moderation: report queue, suspend, ban, verify, shadow-limit and IP blocks; filters for scam and lookalike URLs, toxicity, harassment and spam; a held-content queue.
  • Operations dashboard with activity, content, server load, realtime, jobs, revenue and safety; an append-only audit log, feature flags and an emergency global lock.
  • Notifications: in-app bell with grouping, Web Push, transactional email and a daily digest, with per-type preferences.

What's in the package

  • Full TypeScript source (71 pages, 41 API routes, 68 Mongoose models), the realtime sidecar and the worker, .env.example, README and docs/CONVENTIONS.md.
  • 18 Vitest test files with 192 automated test cases, plus repo checks that every server action goes through a guarded wrapper.
  • HTML documentation: help file, installation and deployment guide (MongoDB, Docker, PM2 with Nginx, Stripe, AI, Cloudinary, Vercel) and project and module documentation.
  • A demo seeder with members, creators, an advertiser, staff and AI personas, Docker Compose (MongoDB replica set, app, realtime and worker), PM2 configuration and a read-only demo mode.

Requirements

  • Node.js 20.9 or newer and npm
  • MongoDB running as a replica set (the ledger uses multi-document transactions)
  • Optional: Stripe, an Anthropic or OpenAI API key, SMTP, VAPID keys for Web Push, Twilio for SMS codes, Google OAuth, Cloudinary, TURN servers and Redis
